The MAC wants to give to those who are less fortunate during this terrible Wildfire Season!

  • MAC members or non-MAC members may participate. Attendance is not necessary for a donation.

  • Once signed up for the class, tell friends and family you are attending to try to raise as much money as possible.

  • All donations, whether you can attend or not will be given a Martinez Athletic Club water bottle. Just our way of saying thank you.

  • Attendees do not have to stay for the entire 2-HOUR MARATHON. You can even split the time with someone.

  • All donations will be given to the American Red Cross.

As of Wednesday morning 8/1/18, the deadly Carr Fire in Shasta County had burned nearly 115,500 acres and was 35 percent contained. It first ignited July 23 following the mechanical failure of a vehicle.

Six people have died in the fire, including two firefighters.

The blaze has destroyed 1,018 residential structures while damaging over 180, according to Cal Fire. Sections of several neighborhoods in the city of Redding were completely lost. Over 2,500 structures remain threatened.

The Redding Police Department announced Wednesday that 18 of the original 20 reported missing persons have been found. Two people remain missing.

It is currently the seventh-most destructive wildfire in California history.
